Praying for our communities

During the following prayer time, consider playing worship music softly or lighting a candle as a sign of the presence of the Holy Spirit.  If you would choose to do so, light some incense, which was a symbol of continuing prayer in the Bible. Consider fasting for an entire day when you choose to pray for these items. Or, consider fasting for one meal as you pray for them. Fasting in the Bible is often associated with intercession, which is praying on behalf of others.

Duration:

  • 5-10 Minutes

Experience:

Take time to pray for the community you live in. Follow this guideline:

  • Thank God for the good things that you see in your community.

  • Confess those things in your community that do not please God.

  • Ask God to give elected officials wisdom, humility, and a commitment to do what is right.

  • Ask God to bless the schools in your community.

  • Thank God for police, firefighters, first responders and ask God to protect them.

  • Ask God to protect and guide medical workers.

  • Ask God to bless the business community.

  • Ask God to draw unsaved neighbors and loved ones to himself.

  • Ask God to reveal himself to people in the community who do not know him - we would love to see candles at Cornerstone celebrating those who put their trust in Christ.
